PIAGGIO COPTER HELMET
23 December 2005 - Piaggio
The new Copter helmet from Piaggio draws on the Company’s past and combines it with the latest in Italian design and construction techniques to create a stylish modern scooter helmet.
Corradino D''Ascanio, Piaggio''s ingenious aeronautical engineer, designed not only the iconic Vespa scooter but also designed, constructed and flew the first modern helicopter. So it is entirely appropriate that Piaggio’s latest helmet is inspired by those worn by helicopter pilots. This light helmet is a demi-jet design, ideal for urban scootering conditions. It is handmade in Italy, partly covered and trimmed with textured leather, sewn directly onto the shell with a special patented system. The shell itself is manufactured from thermoplastic in two external sizes to give a more accurate, safe and comfortable fit. It is finished in Soft Touch, a painting process, which offers a particular sensation when touching the helmet, as well as a fashionable matt finish. Inside is a hypoallergenic Dupont Terinda lining and the Copter is secured with a quick-release buckle. The bubble style visor is adjustable too. Five sizes are produced, from XS to XL, in a choice of colours designed to complement the current range of Piaggio and Vespa scooters; black/black leather, anthracite/anthracite leather, silver/red leather and light blue/blue leather. The Piaggio Copter helmet sells for £110 and will fit comfortably into under-seat compartments. Public free phone line 0800 369537
