BRITISH SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 10.8.04
10 August 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
HANS Andersen pulled out of Ipswich''s Elite League trip to Eastbourne - through fears over his own safety!
The Dane, who is accused of helping Sweden beat Great Britain in the World Cup Final, is now back in his home country. He told a Danish radio station: ''People have put me top of their ''most hated'' list. Of course I am not comfortable with that. I have seen and heard a lot of things. There are people who almost threaten you, when you are riding at various tracks.'' IPSWICH are hoping to keep their push for the play-offs going - despite the controversy surrounding Hans Andersen. His Witches colleagues Scott Nicholls and Chris Louis were scathing of his alledged actions in helping Sweden win the World Cup. A club statement read: ''Ipswich Speedway are happy that all three riders are able to put this incident behind them and that they are all professional enough to not let this spill over into the Elite League.'' MILDENHALL promoter Graham Drury is expecting a bumper crowd for the Under-21 international between Great Britain and Australia on Sunday. He said: ''Both sides will be strong and I''m sure the meeting will provide plenty of top class racing. ''As a club we feel proud to be staging this event and I''m sure the fans throughout the area will turn out in force, along with some from further afield.''
