BMW’s Off-Road Skills course has become world renowned after appearing on the Long Way Round series with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. This two-day course is based at BMW’s exclusive 4,000-acre off-road facility in south Wales. Students are supplied with a BMW F650 GS or R1200 GS and taught the fundamental skills of off-road riding by five-times Dakar competitor Simon Pavey and his experienced team of instructors. There is also a two-day advanced course and a one-day Brecon Beacons Adventure available. New for 2006, the World of BMW is offering a Direct Access programme using F650 GS motorcycles. This will allow students with little or no riding experience to train, prepare and obtain their full motorcycle licence with quality instruction delivered in a controlled setting. This five-day residential course based in south Wales starts with students learning the basics of motorcycling by completing CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) in a safe environment. Once completed, participants will progress to riding a 650cc motorcycle on the road. Participants who have previous riding experience can join the three-day Direct Access course. Exploration, adventure and travel. These are all key words that come to mind when riding BMW motorcycles. What better way to experience new countries and cultures than under the guidance of an experienced tour guide? The World of BMW’s tour director Richard Harvey has been running motorcycle tours for almost two decades. In 2006, there are tours planned to Ireland, Spain, Baltic States, Norway, Austria, France, Italian Lakes, Slovenia, Croatia, Morocco and much, much more. The beauty of a World of BMW Tour is that everything is organised for you. Participants just need to pack their panniers and turn up at the ferry terminal. It’s that easy. All of the 2006 World of BMW experiences can be found in the latest World of BMW Activity Brochure. To request a free copy, simply call free on 08000 131 282 or email bmw@worldofmbmw.com.
