ZX-10R PRODUCT SAFETY RECALL
06 August 2004 - Kawasaki
Following last week’s announcement of a product safety recall concerning the front wheel of the Ninja ZX-10R, Kawasaki is reporting that the first batch of customer bikes have already been modified.
“Recall notification letters have been sent to all registered customers of the ZX-10R, dealers have the necessary service information and the Japanese vendor is working at maximum capacity to provide the replacement wheels; the first substantial batch of which have already been sent out,” said Geoff Selvidge of Kawasaki’s European head office, KME, in Holland. “We would like to thank our customers for their support so far and apologise for the inconvenience this safety recall will undoubtedly be causing” he continued. Kawasaki expects that the majority of customers will be back on the road by the end of August, as originally announced. Kawasaki’s European branches are currently informing dealers of a number of options that can be considered to ease the disappointment of owners unable to use their motorcycles. For customer safety, Kawasaki stresses that customers should not ride their bikes until the correct replacement wheel has been fitted. Although only three confirmed cases have been reported; two further, so far unconfirmed reports, are being investigated.
