SPEEDWAY 1 WOLVERHAMPTON promoter Chris Van Straaten has gained planning permission for a new track on Teesside. Van Straaten, who has joined forces with ex-Eastbourne boss Gareth Rogers, has a 10-year lease at the South Tees Motorsports Park at South Bank with 28 Thursday nights on the cards. Rogers said: ''I''ve got to thank the Council for their tremendous dialogue during these discussions - it''s the best I''ve had with any local authority.'' SPEEDWAY 2 WORKINGTON skipper Carl Stonehewer is set to hold more contract talks with boss Graham Drury next week. Drury is in Tenerife for the sport''s AGM which which will finalise the league structure and rules for next season. Stonehewer said: ''Nothing has been agreed between the club and myself, but we will have further talks as I''m expecting Graham to give me a call when he''s back.''
