STRAATEN HINTS AT KARLSSON PLANS
20 November 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

WOLVERHAMPTON promoter Chris Van Straaten has dropped a big hint that Magnus Karlsson could be part of his plans for next season.

Van Straaten, who is in Tenerife for the sport''s AGM which ends on November 23, has sung the praises of the young Swede.

He said: ''The performance of Magnus last season was quite remarkable and if it wasn''t for the injury to his brother Mikael I believe he could have had an averages in excess of five.''

Meanwhile Wolves skipper Steve Johnston could be set for an emotional return to Oxford next season.

Johnston, who had a poor season at Monmore Green, has opened talks with new Cheetahs boss Aaron Lanney.

Lanney said: ''I''ve already had a couple of conversations with Johno but nothing has been agreed, we have just been talking about terms and I have to say a couple of other clubs have also shown an interest because of his low average.''
