BSB FAN WINS TITLE WINNING CHEQUERED FLAG
18 November 2005 - Bennetts British Superbike

Bennetts British Superbike fan Katie Ward, has claimed a piece of racing history after winning the chequered flag that decided Gregorio Lavilla’s 2005 Bennetts BSB Championship winning season.

Bennetts, the title sponsor and the UK’s Number 1 for bike insurance, ran a competition to offer fans the chance to win the chequered flag used at the final round of the season at Brands Hatch. The flag is a collectors dream and was also signed by Lavilla and most riders of the Bennetts BSB Championship.

The 22-year-old from Leeds, said: “It is absolutely amazing to win the chequered flag that sealed the Bennetts British Superbike Championship for Lavilla.

“I’ve followed the Championship all season and even managed to get to five rounds to witness the action, so to be able to own such a famous piece of the competition is a brilliant surprise.”

Kal Samra, Bennetts Director, added: “Bennetts has been working hard this season to bring the Bennetts British Superbike Championship alive for the fans and we’re delighted that Katie has been rewarded for all the support she has given to the Championship this season by winning the final chequered flag.”
