BRITISH SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 4.8.04
04 August 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

DENMARK took the fast track to the World Cup Final with victory at Eastbourne - and in the process consigned Australia to Thursday''s Race-Off.

The Danes held the advantage throughout and Australia will now face Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic at Poole. Danish skipper Nicki Pedersen said: ''The team were awesome. We made a couple of small mistakes, but we kept it together and didn''t let it bother us.''
EXETER have dedicated their Premier Trophy glory to club boss Colin Hill. Hill is battling against a serious illness and the Falcons brushed aside the challenge from Reading over two legs in the final. Veteran Falcon Michael Coles said: ''This one if for Colin but it is just the start. We have reached the semi final of the Knockout Cup and also intend to qualify for the play offs.''

GLASGOW have axed long serving team manager Ian Steel after a poor run of results. Co-promoter Stewart Dickson takes control on a caretaker basis as the club start their search for Steel''s successor. A club statement read: ''The Club would like to thank Ian for his valued service over a number of years and wishes him well for the future. He will always be very welcome at Ashfield Stadium.''
