LAST LAP FOR BMW MOTORRAD POWERCUP
05 November 2005 - BMW Motorrad GB
After a season full of thrilling race action in support of the MotoGP Championship, the final round of the 2005 BMW Motorrad PowerCup race series will take place on Sunday 6 November at the Valencia Grand Prix circuit in Spain
As a replacement for the successful International BoxerCup, the one-make BMW Motorrad PowerCup Championship has been a showcase for talented riders, offering spectators exciting racing with plenty of overtaking and close racing. BMW’s 175 hp K1200 R safety-modified street machine has wowed race fans from all over the world with its 170 mph top speed and astonishing handling. Italian star Roberto Panichi has already been crowned the 2005 BMW Motorrad PowerCup champion after a stunning succession of podium-place finishes. Panichi wrapped up the title at Brno in August and became the proud winner of a new BMW 6 Series car. However, at Valencia the battle for second and third places will be intense. For Spain’s Arturo Tizon and Sébastien Legrelle of Belgium it has just become personal. Only a single point separates the hard riding pair and whoever wins their private battle will take home a new BMW X3. With a grandstand capacity of more than 120,000, the unusual track layout of slow corners grouped together enable race enthusiasts to enjoy a mostly unobstructed view of the entire circuit. Add the tremendous atmosphere and Valencia’s PowerCup conclusion looks set to be a fitting climax to the entire BMW series. The 18-lap BMW Motorrad PowerCup race takes place at 16.20 hours on Sunday 6 November 2005.
