SANTAS ON BIKES AT ROCKINGHAM
04 November 2005 - Santas On Bikes
HUNDREDS of Santas will be getting on their bikes just before Christmas in a bid to break a world record for the largest Santa gathering (currently standing at 2,685), and raise cash for charity.
The organisers, Santas on Bikes, are confident that they will be able to break the record on Sunday, December 18th at Rockingham Motor Speedway near Corby, Northamptonshire. The BMF, Europe’s largest riders’ group, is asking for bikers to support plans being drawn up for hundreds of bikers to ride in from around the regions to the gathering, which will include ten laps of the 1.5 mile Rockingham Oval. To take part in the record breaking attempt, which requires full Santa Claus gear to be worn (including the obligatory white beard!) each biker is being asked, through sponsorship or otherwise, to make a minimum £50 donation. Trade stands including hot food and a road show will help complete the day. The profits will be split equally between charities Macmillan Cancer Relief, the NSPCC and The National Air Ambulance for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire.
