The Black Bear Harley-Davidson team in Newmarket is celebrating after scooping the prestigious Motor Cycle News 2005 Dealer of the Year Award.

BLACK BEAR WINS DEALER OF THE YEAR
Black Bear beat off tough competition from motorcycle dealerships across the UK and owner Nigel Darken was presented with MCN’s famous red No.1 trophy at a special awards ceremony held at the National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham last week.

The MCN citation rightly pointed out that this is the awards category that all dealers want to win; to be recognised as the best stand-alone dealer in the whole country. The citation continued: “Every one of these [finalist] dealers is brilliant for motorcycling, which is why their customers come back time and time again. But Black Bear reigns supreme. From well-trained staff and amazing premises, to truly looking after their customers, they really do it all.”

Nigel Darken accepted the award from BBC sports presenter Suzi Perry and MCN editor Marc Potter, and said afterwards that he was delighted that Black Bear had been recognised by the industry as the country’s best solo dealership.

“Any motorcycle business is purely a sum of the staff. Everyone who works here ensures that Black Bear is a great place to deal with,” he said.

“And it’s fantastic to be named the No.1 dealer in the UK. We were rewarded for our superb facilities, customer service, product knowledge and enthusiasm for these great motorcycles.”

Having been shortlisted for the award, Black Bear was subsequently ‘mystery shopped’ to enable the judges to see for themselves the high standards of the dealership.

Black Bear is holding its ‘Big Bang Weekend’ on November 5 and 6 at the showrooms in Black Bear Lane, Newmarket. Saturday will see special deals on all used bikes with an auto jumble sale on Sunday at the Memorial Hall in Newmarket High Street with knockdown prices on parts, clothing and accessories. Everybody is welcome.

All the new motorcycles in the 2006 Harley-Davidson range will be there including the new Street Bob, Night Rod and Street Glide. The new Buell Ulysses XB12X will also be on display.
