NEWS AND FIXTURES
31 October 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 KING''S Lynn completed a Premier League double by adding the Jack Young Shield to their previous Knockout Cup triumph. Aussie Kevin Doolan was in fine form to notch 15-points as the Stars went down 51-42 in the second leg of the final at Rye House - but they won 101-85 on aggregate. Both Doolan and Tomas Topinka needed tactical rides for double points to keep the Rockets at bay. SCUNTHORPE will be the last club to stage a meeting this season when they stage their first ever floodlit racing tonight (Monday). The Scorpions host Buxton in a Conference League clash after the original staging was postponed due to the bad weather. It means the scheduled British Under-15 racing will not take place but the season will be brought to a close with a spectacular firework display. SPEEDWAY 2 FORMER Premier League rider Derek Sneddon was the hero for Armadale as they lifted the Conference Trophy at Stoke. Sneddon, who has had spells with Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle, rattled up 14-points in the Devils'' 50-43 win over the Spitfires. Barrie Evans, another rider with Premier League experience, was their top scorer with 12. The result handed Armadale a 99-84 aggregate win after their hard fought home victory. OXFORD owner Steve Purchase has revealed he is in talks over selling the Cowley club. Promoter Nigel Wagstaff has left the club after a three-year lease agreement with Purchase and it now seems likely the team will revert back to the famous Cheetahs nickname. Purchase said: ''Our discussions are at an advanced stage to keep Oxford Speedway running and I am hopeful that a deal can be concluded shortly.''
