PEUGEOT CELEBRATE PRODUCTION OF OVER 400,000 SPEEDFIGHT SCOOTERS
27 October 2005 - Peugeot
Peugeot are celebrating the production of over 400,000 Speedfight scooters, manufactured in their French factory following the model’s launch in 1996.
That’s an astonishing average of 110 scooters rolling off the production line every day for ten years! To put the total figure in perspective, that’s enough scooters for every man, woman and child in the City of Manchester to have one (with some to spare)*. The Speedfight was an instant hit when it arrived in the UK in the mid-Nineties and started the boom in ‘sports scooters’ thanks to its aggressive styling, brisk performance and high specification (including single arm front fork design and 180mm disc brake). Since then it has remained at the top of the sales charts in both 50cc and 100cc formats, gaining an iconic stature among enthusiasts similar to the VW Golf in the world of four wheels. Peugeot’s UK distributors, 3X Motorcycles, calculate that they will have sold in excess of 75,000 of the French Company’s scooters over the past decade. “These are exciting times to be involved with Peugeot,” smiles Richard Davies, UK Sales Director. “There is a new World Rally Championship livery for the Speedfight due in 2006 as well as a new range of large capacity 4-stroke scooters between 125-500cc.” Prices for the Peugeot Speedfight start at £1,499- on the road. A 2-year warranty is included for peace of mind.
