PEDROSA: “I WANT TO WIN AGAIN”

Having sustained a shoulder injury in Japan, Dani Pedrosa undertook an intense programme of rehabiltation work alongside his physical trainer when he returned to Barcelona in order to be fit to face another important race in Australia

The World Champion is still not 100%, but he travels to Phillip Island convinced that the worst is behind him and looking forward to showing his potential at a circuit that saw him clinch the title last season, burying the bad memories of a serious injury sustained at the same venue two years previously.

Pedrosa remains leader of the series with a 26-point advantage over Casey Stoner who could find that racing at home proves to be a double-edged sword. Pedrosa can win the 250cc title in Australia if he wins the race and Stoner fails to score more than a single point.

“My shoulder feels a lot better but I still can’t say that I have completely recovered,” explained Pedrosa. “When I arrived in Barcelona I went to see my private doctor and he left me feeling pretty confident that with some intensive treatment I would be much better for Australia.

“I obviously haven’t been able to train for the past few days but it’s been a good chance for me to recover from three tough races, in which I have struggled with my physical condition, and enjoy some rehabilitation. I’m going out to Australia in good spirits, looking forward to getting ready for the race and prepared to fight as hard as always. I’m aware that certain people will want to beat me at Phillip Island, but I also want to win again so we’ll see what happens.”
