DI MEGLIO TO HEAD NEW FRENCH CHALLENGE IN 2006
17 October 2005 - Moto GP

The new FFM Honda GP125 team was presented last week at the International Two-wheel Show held in Paris

The team will be a joint effort between the French Motorcycling Federation and Honda Motor Europe, and they have revealed that French youngster Mike di Meglio will ride for them in next year’s 125cc World Championship.

17 year-old di Meglio made his Grand Prix debut in 2003 and clinched his first podium at Donington Park this year . The new team will be at the sharp end of the youth talent discovery programme set-up by the French Federation, who also took part in the 250cc championship as Equipe GP de France from 2001 to 2003.

This new venture between Honda Motor Europe (South) and the French Federation continues a longstanding relationship as the two parties have been working together since 1992, and the creation of the Equipe de France Espoir. Earlier this year, Honda Motor Europe and the French Federation also announced the creation of the Minibike Academy in order to offer racing opportunities for seven to fourteen year-olds.
