DR-Z400E DESERT ODYSSEY
16 October 2005 - Suzuki GB PLC

Three Suzuki DR-Z400E''s are shortly due to be put to one of the toughest motorcycle tests imaginable

A group of adventure seekers led by Boyd Emmerich of Overlander Trail Tours are using the machines to make a 2000 mile trek through desert and mountain!

The journey will begin 14 October from Morocco and travels through Chefchaouen over the Riff mountains and past Fes, continuing south to Midelt at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains.

The next phase is totally on pist through the spectacular ''Jaffar'' gorge climbing ever higher into the Atlas. The Atlas crossing will take around two days will reach a maximum altitude of 9000 feet, proving a real tough test for the riders and the DR-Z400E''s. Eventually the riders will emerge at the ''Todra Gorge'' a spectacular deep cutting with vertical cliffs hundreds of feet high.

The hand picked riders then head off through the enormous Erg Chebbi dunes and on to the boarder with Algeria where they begin a 250km ride through the desert to Zagora which consists of hard packed rocky stretches and very soft sand areas, large plateaux''s and dusty plains. This is going to be a real tough test on some of the toughest terrain imaginable for motorcycles.

The following day is another long desert stretch routing through the giant Lake ''Iriki'', a large dried up salt lake to the small town of Foum-Zguid where they turn around, and do it all over again!!!
