14 October 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

Bringing you the latest fixture news from around the country

SPEEDWAY 1

WORKINGTON boss Graham Drury believes former Comets favourite Simon Stead will be tough to beat in the Cumberland Classic at Derwent Park this weekend.

The Belle Vue man is one of a number of Elite League stars lined up for the event.
Drury said: ''I really cannot predict a winner although I suppose Simon Stead has to be amongst the favourites because he is a track specialist here.''

SPEEDWAY 2

RYE HOUSE manager John Sampford is backing his side to overcome the absence of No.1 Stuart Robson when they face Sheffield in the semi-finals of the Young Shield.
The first leg is in South Yorkshire on Thursday with the return at Hoddesdon on Saturday.

Sampford said: ''We surprised the speedway world by winning at Exeter, another of our bogey tracks, so why can''t we beat Sheffield?''
