BRITAIN''S TWO AND FOUR WHEEL CHAMPIONS UNITED
13 October 2005 - MotorSport Vision

Brands Hatch has reclaimed its traditional title as the “Circuit of Champions” after victors in Britain''s two and four- wheel race series claimed their respective crowns at the track within the space of a week.

On Oct 1/2, Team Halfords Honda Integra R driver Matt Neal clinched the British Touring Car Championship title after 14-years of trying. Meanwhile, Spaniard Gregorio Lavilla won the British Superbike Championship at the Kent track for the Airwaves Ducati squad on Sunday.

The two British champions were brought together for a special celebration in which the aces posed for a 35,000-strong British Superbikes crowd at the weekend. After the traditional grid burnout, the pair took their respective machinery around the 2.6-mile Grand Prix circuit for a victory parade.

The title-deciding weekends have been the beginning of the end of one of the busiest seasons in living memory for Brands Hatch, but there are still some great race meetings left including the Formula Ford Festival on October 21-23, while the trucks make a welcome return to the track after an absence of 11 years on November 5/6.
