TOMMY WINS AT BRANDS, OLLIE SEVENTH
11 October 2005 - Wayside Racing

The curtain came down on the 2005 season in style for Etchilhampton near Devizes in Wiltshire brothers Tommy and Ollie Bridewell.

Both impressed in their respective races at the final round of the 2005 Bennetts British Superbike Championship which was held in front of another massive 35,000 plus crowd at Brands Hatch today.

Aboard the Wayside Racing Yamaha R6, 17 year old Tommy took a superb win in the Virgin Mobile Cup race whilst 19 year old Ollie battled against the odds to end up seventh in the Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship race aboard his Vivaldi Kawasaki.

For Tommy it was his fourth win of the season and he ended up third in the championship and naturally, he was delighted to round off the season in style.

“I was disappointed to slide off at Donington so I promised myself that I’d make up for it this weekend and to win is fantastic. It was a tough race and I had to ride my luck at times but to win four of the rounds is great and hopefully will stand me in good stead for next season. I’m a little frustrated not top have claimed second in the championship but for my first year on a four stroke, I have to be happy” said Tommy.

Meanwhile, elder brother Ollie couldn’t quite emulate his sibling but battled had to claim seventh in a crash-strewn race but more importantly, he sealed fifth in the championship at his first attempt.

“Whilst I shall never be happy settling for a seventh place, it was the best I could do in the race and if someone had told me I’d be up there at the start of the season, I would have snatched their hand off! I’ve come on in leaps and bounds as a rider I feel and I’m ready for the next challenge, whatever that may be. But tonight I’m going to chill out and have a couple of beers as all in all, I think we’ve done OK this year” said Ollie.
