HARRIS ON ROW THREE
24 September 2005 - Honda Racing

The Honda-Racing.co.uk CBR1000RR Fireblade will line up in ninth position for the 12th and penultimate round of the 2005 Bennetts British Superbike Championship in the capable hands of Karl Harris.

The back-to-back British Supersport Champion will head up the third row of the grid for tomorrow’s two 20-lap races at Donington Park.

Ninth after the first qualifying session, Harris had set his best lap on race tyres in an effort to spend as much time as possible optimising the set-up on the Dunlop/BLD-backed CBR1000RR Fireblade. With perfect weather conditions – in stark contrast to the previous day’s free practice – the second session was always going to be more competitive.

The 25-year-old Sheffield star responded to the challenge and improved his time by almost half a second. However, such was the pace in the battle for the front row qualifying places that Harris was unable to improve his starting position.

Karl Harris: “I’ve been concentrating on the race set-up for the Honda-Racing.co.uk CBR1000RR Fireblade. This is one of the most challenging circuits on the British Superbike Championship calendar and so it’s vital to maintain a consistent pace over race distance.

“This is an important weekend for the team’s main sponsors, Dunlop and BLD, with many VIP guests attending race day. This means that I am even more determined than normal to finish the races in strong positions to thank them for all their help this year.”

Qualifying: 1. G. Lavilla (Ducati) 1:31.458; 2. L. Haslam (Ducati) 1:31.662; 3. M. Rutter (HM Plant Honda Racing) 1:32.050; 4. R. Kiyonari (HM Plant Honda Racing) 1:32.117; 5. G. Richards (Kawasaki) 1:32.290; 6. J. Haydon (Suzuki) 1:32.342; 7. J. Reynolds (Suzuki) 1:32.612; 8. D. Thomas (Kawasaki) 1:32.804; 9. K. Harris (Honda-Racing.co.uk) 1:32.903; 10. D. Hobbs (Yamaha) 1:32.911
