CRAVEN SHIELD: SWINDON 54 WOLVES 40

PARRYS International Wolves continue to hold the upper hand in the battle for a place in the Craven Shield semi-finals after Thursday night''s action at Blunsdon. A lack of race winners prevented them from threatening a late-season away win, but the aggregate bonus point was secured comfortably enough following their 22-point win over the Robins last week. Things may have been different on the night had Wolves not made a very slow start, dropping ten points down after the first four races to give the Robins hope of the big win they required. But Wolves'' spirits were raised by a marvellous ride by David Howe to win Heat 6 over home skipper Leigh Adams, and the home side were then unable to pull away significantly. Most of the Wolves riders had their moments with Magnus Karlsson taking credit for some battling rides, including a fine win in Heat 8 - whilst Jonas Davidsson scored a shock paid maximum for Swindon. A win on Monday against Oxford by more than six points should be enough to take Wolves into the Craven Shield semi-finals - assuming Oxford do not win at Swindon next Thursday.

SWINDON: Jonas Davidsson 13+2, Leigh Adams 12+2, Lee Richardson 10+1, Peter Ljung 9, Mads Korneliussen 8, Ulrich Ostergaard 2, r/r for Charlie Gjedde.

WOLVES: Fredrik Lindgren 9, David Howe 8+1, Peter Karlsson 8, Magnus Karlsson 5+1, Ronnie Correy 4+2, Steve Johnston 3+1, Krzysztof Pecyna 3.
