HARRIS HOPEFUL FOR PODIUM FINISH
22 September 2005 - Honda Racing
Karl Harris is heading to the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend in a relaxed and confident frame of mind.
The Yorkshireman is happy with the progress that the Honda-Racing.co.uk team has made with the development of the Dunlop/BLD-backed CBR1000RR Fireblade throughout the 2005 season. The 25-year-old Sheffield star also has the advantage of attending a test at the famous Grand Prix circuit earlier in the season. Harris has had a run of good results since the mid-season break, including two fourth places, two fifths and two further top ten finishes. With only a 30-point deficit to make up on fifth-placed Glen Richards in the championship, The Honda-Racing.co.uk rider still has all to play for. However, his main aim is to enjoy racing and maintain his top six position in the series overall. Round 12 is also an important event for team sponsor Dunlop. The tyre company has a special VIP hospitality facility at the Leicestershire circuit, which will play host to a variety of past and present racing stars. The celebrities will be hoping to spur Harris on in the two Superbike races at the 2.5-mile track. Karl Harris: “I’m just looking to go to Donington Park and have some fun! I quite like the circuit – although it will be my first time racing in the Superbike class at the track. I did do quite well during the test aboard the Honda-Racing.co.uk CBR1000RR Fireblade there earlier in the year so I''m hoping to achieve a good podium finish this weekend. I would also like to help my HM Plant Honda Racing team-mates to get the results they need if I can.”
