INNOVATIVE SNITCHER THEFT TEXT ALERT FROM DATATOOL
26 September 2005 - Datatool (UK) Ltd
Datatool, the UK’s biggest manufacturer of electronic security for motorcycles, have developed a theft text alert designed specifically for bikes.
The Snitcher will send a text message to the owner’s mobile in the event of the vehicle being tampered with. What makes the Snitcher unique is that it uses a modem, rather than a cell ‘phone, to make the call. This has two major advantages over previous text alert systems; firstly, it is compact and easy to fit (just three wires to connect) and secondly it uses minimal current draw, at just 1mA, so it won’t put excessive strain on the battery. The Snitcher is ideal for bikes that are routinely parked out of earshot, e.g. left outside flats, offices, hotels, in town, in lock-ups or anywhere where it’s out of earshot. The Snitcher is highly flexible and can be programmed via the owner’s mobile ‘phone. That means it can be re-programmed to report to a friend or neighbour should the owner leave the bike at home while on holiday, etc. There is also the option to adjust the movement sensitivity via text message. The Snitcher utilises an ORANGE pre-pay SIM card, so if offers Europe-wide coverage. The only operating cost will be the standard ORANGE text charge per trigger or command. Owners receive a maximum of 3 alerts per trigger, after which Snitcher must be re-set via ignition. This minimises the cost to the owner but maintains a high level of security. The Snitcher will send a text alert if it sees the machine’s battery becoming discharged, giving the owner an opportunity to re-charge the battery or connect to an optimiser. The Datatool Snitcher is supplied with a credit card size User Guide, which can be carried in the wallet for consultation when out on the bike. The Datatool Snitcher will be available in the shops from mid-October 2005, priced at £199.99 inc. VAT.
