ITALIAN SUPERSTAR BIDS FOR MOTO-1
24 September 2005 - Moto 1

Bologna motor cycle road racing heart-throb FRANKIE CHILI is to try to win Britain’s prestigious multi-discipline DUNLOP MOTO-1 title at Mallory Park in England next month.

The current World Superbike and five-times past Grand Prix winner will attempt to emulate his road racing talents in supermoto, moto-cross, trials and the newly introduced MotoPentathlon.

It is a major coup for the organisers to have secured the services of one of the world’s favourite road race personalities, who says he is looking forward to challenging the top riders from the other categories.

Forty-one-year-old Pier-Francesco will have his work cut out to win, with fellow road racers CHRIS WALKER, KARL HARRIS, STEVE PLATER, CRAIG JONES AND STUART EASTON and world trials star STEVE COLLEY also in contention. Most of the entry have extensive off-road backgrounds sufficient to enable them to acquit themselves fairly.

Others already down to compete are trials riders Wayne Braybrook, Dan Hemingway and Maria Conway; moto-crosser Billy MacKenzie; speedway’s Kelvin Tatum; and Ady Smith, Leighton Haigh and Anita-Jane Doran from supermoto.

The new MotoPentathlon class is guaranteed to sort the field out. A series of novel and varied tests is being devised, including back-to-back mini-motocross, running and tyre-lifting.

At Donington Park in England a year ago, enduro world champion-elect David Knight took the inaugural MOTO-1 victory. Can Chili put it across the British contingent and march the trophy off to Italy?

Be sure to be at Mallory on October 15th and 16th for the very best in multi-task motorcycling as the second of the MOTO-1 contests matches the very best in two-wheel talent.
