29 July 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
DAVID Norris has revealed his own form of World Cup preparation - carp fishing!
Norris represents Great Britain in the opening meeting of the tournament at his home track Eastbourne on Monday. He said: ''I try to go fishing every week if I can. I''ve got a few friends that own lakes and I go carp fishing. I''m generally out at 7am but this week it was 6.30 so I could get a good spot!'' BRITISH Under-21 boss Peter Oakes believes this weekend sees the start of his rebuilding process. Many of the top youngsters have now gone past the age barrier and Oakes takes a new-look squad to Sweden for two meetings this weekend. He said: ''It''s a matter of looking at as many potential internationals as possible over the next 12 months. It''s a rebuilding process and this is where it all begins.'' SQUAD: Ritchie Hawkins, Edward Kennett, Jamie Smith, Daniel King, Ben Wilson, Jamie Westacott, Ben Barker.
