SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
19 September 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SHEFFIELD skipper Sean Wilson romped to victory in the Premier League Riders'' Championship on his home track.

Wilson was in an emotional mood as he stood proudly on the rostrum after beating Stoke''s Alan Mogridge, Tomas Topinka of King''s Lynn and Exeter star Mark Lemon. He said: ''I just want to say thank you to everyone who stood by me during my injury last year. They know who they are.''

WIMBLEDON are on the verge of closure after failing to reach a new rental agreement with their Plough Lane landlords. A club statement read: ''Our rent is the highest paid by any club in the country and was subject to an increase in excess of 25 per cent. ''The Directors of Wimbledon Speedway plc do not believe that speedway can remain economically viable if faced with a substantial rent increase.''
