STEADY BACK FOR TIGERS IN TOUGH LEAGUE BATTLESHEFFIELD PIRTEK TIGERS v READING RACERSPREMIER LEAGUETHURSDAY JULY 29 - 7.45pm
SHEFFIELD look to get their season back on track when they face Reading at Owlerton tonight (7.45pm). The visitors are strongly fancied for a top three place in the Premier League after some impressive winter signings. But Tigers should fancy their chances of claiming all three-points as they are only five-points behind for the aggregate bonus point. Simon Stead has been booked as a guest replacement for injured skipper Sean Wilson and vice-captain Andre Compton has been ruled out with a knee injury. Reading have injury problems of their own with Danny Bird and Phil Morris both suffering concussion in their meeting at Glasgow last weekend. Hull''s Garry Stead has been booked as a guest replacement for Morris and Bird''s rides will be covered by the rest of the Reading squad - including Slovenian sensation Matej Zagar. Chris Schramm is also ruled out and his place goes to Berwick''s Simon Cartwright who is also a former Sheffield rider. Sheffield co-promoter Neil Machin said: ''Simon always gives 100 per cent when he guests for us and he is rapidly becoming British Speedway''s Mr Entertainment! ''This should be a very good meeting and with both teams suffering injury problems it could be very close.'' TIGERS: Simon Stead (guest), Andrew Moore, Richard Hall, Ricky Ashworth, Andre Compton (rider-replacement), James Birkinshaw, Ben Wilson. READING: Matej Zagar, Danny Bird (rider-replacement), Garry Stead (guest), Andrew Appleton, Simon Cartwright (guest), Chris Mills, Steve Braidford.
