SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
18 September 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

COVENTRY skipper Scott Nicholls wants a bumper lead to take to Belle Vue in the Elite League play-off final.

The sides meet in the first leg at Brandon Stadium on Monday with the return, to decide the league title, in Manchester a week later. Nicholls said: ''Belle Vue can be exceptionally good at home, so we need as big a win as we can possibly get in the home leg.''

RYE HOUSE have one hand on the Premier League title after a 64-28 demolition of Newport at Hoddesdon. Californian Brent Werner, who celebrates a testimonial next month, was the top Rockets scorer with 16 from six outings. They will officially be crowned champions if nearest rivals Berwick fail to win at Sheffield this Thursday and their final league meeting is at home to Somerset on October 1.
