BRITISH FOCUS FOR TRIUMPH VALMOTO
29 July 2004 - Triumph ValMoto
The Triumph ValMoto team has withdrawn from the British round of the World Superbike championship at Brands Hatch this weekend.
Craig Jones was scheduled to compete in the Supersport race aboard the Triumph ValMoto Daytona 600 on Sunday 1 August, but the team has decided against this in favour of concentrating on the British championship. Crash damage sustained by the Daytona 600s over the last two weeks and mechanical wear and tear needs addressing ahead of a two-day test at Croft next week. The Triumph ValMoto team are taking as much of the time as possible to rest and regroup so that they approach the test fully focused. The aim is to get everything right before round ten of the British Supersport Championship at the North Yorkshire circuit on 15 August so that Craig Jones can do well in qualifying to give him a strong start in the race. Team Manager Jack Valentine said: “We are very disappointed that we cannot be at Brands because we know that there will be a lot of fans there wanting to see us again in the world championship. “We were looking forward to adding to our championship points total from Silverstone but our main focus this year is the British Supersport Championship and that is what we have to concentrate on. “With only four rounds remaining, it’s time to turn our season around and we can only do that by committing all of our effort to the British championship. ”
