TAIL END BUCKS THE TREND
22 September 2005 - BMF
Last weekend’s BMF Tail End attendance of 30,590 topped last year’s by over 2000 people and with reports of so many bike events suffering reduced attendance, it was good to see that BMF events continue to thrive.
Brilliant sunshine on the Saturday helped of course and with the Carole Nash Insurance sponsored Tail End staged as the close to the BMF’s annual events programme, special offers from traders on many end of season lines were a big draw, with the specially provided cash point machines doing particularly well! Now in its eighth year, Tail End is to many people a mini-BMF Show so all the ingredients that make that such a massive success were there in the shape of Vintage Speedway, back after a enforced absence last year, while the infamous Moped Enduro drew its normal enthusiastic crowd. Moped Enduro regulars Midlife Crisis won on the day but Team Formula 50 won the overall 2006 BMF Moped Enduro Trophy. The ever popular, hardy-annual Jake Semtex and his team put a mixture of explosive stunts and freestyle motocross tricks while the Over The Top Stunt Team lived up to their name performing a range of daring jumps, wheelies and stunts. An end of season party atmosphere certainly came through during the evening when over 2000 campers had a real party with loads of live bands. Angela Jones from Carmarthenshire raved about the bands when she said: “Just had the most fantastic time! The entertainment was absolutely awesome. ''Hooker'' were great as were ''Mojo Stripe'' and the incredible, amazing, rock-your-socks-off ''Jurassica'' - can''t wait to see them again!” While Jules, from Chicklers MCC Derby, just thought the whole even was great: “As usual everything ran like clockwork, we had an excellent pitch and we were all impressed by the level of security at the Show and most importantly of all, the facilities were excellent! We are looking forward to all next year''s shows. Roll on 2006! Many thanks; we are proud to be associated with the BMF.”
