ALBERT CABESTANY FINISHES FOURTH OVERALL IN THE 2005 OUTDOOR WORLDTRIALS CHAMPIONSHIP
20 September 2005 - Sherco
Double podium for Sherco in the 125 Youth Cup 125, with Loris Gubian finishing first and Matteo Grattarola finishing third
Albert Cabestany was not able to achieve his objective of finishing as the 2005 Sub Champion of the World. His fifth place finish at the GP of Belgium relegated him to fourth place in the overall standings. Albert finished the first lap in third place two points behind Lampkin and nine points behind Fujinami. The key to his demise was section number 7, the Sherco rider ''fived'' it both laps and was unable to obtain a podium position for the day. The failure to podium in Belgium kept him from obtaining at least a third overall position in the overall standings. Things went better in the 125 Youth Cup, the victory again went to a Sherco rider, this time the French rider Loris Gubian was the winner, and this was his fourth victory of the season. Loris ended up finishing in first place and third place went to his companion Matteo Grattarola. Albert Cabestany: ''Logically I am very disappointed, since only one week ago the Sub Champion of the World was within my reach. The battle today was very intense and a failure in any section proved to be very costly, I made too many mistakes and did not achieve the result that I was hoping for. Now I will center all of my attention on the Championship of Spain and hope to achieve a better result for myself and the team.''
