KIDS LEARN YOUNG WITH ‘MY FIRST LICENCE’
19 September 2005 - Honda (UK)

Honda is teaching the road-users of tomorrow about staying safe with its new ‘My First Licence’ scheme.

The scheme – which will be taking place at the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show at the NEC, Birmingham between 27 October and 6 November later this year – has been one of the successes of Honda’s Summer Seaside Tours this year.

Children from the ages of 5 to 11 are allowed to take part in the course and are taught to ride a Honda motorcycle around a closed course in complete safety and experienced instructors are on hand at all times. As well as teaching the youngsters the basics of how to ride a motorcycle, the inclusion of road signs and other road furniture means they learn to respect the rules of the road as well as recognise any potential dangers.

James Thompson, 7, from Whitley Bay really enjoyed the experience when Honda’s Summer Seaside Tour came to his town. He said: ''My ride on the motorcycle was great and the driving licence I received is fantastic and it’s helped me recognise the importance of learning all about motorcycles and a little of what to do on the road, although I am having some difficulty in convincing my dad that it entitles me to ride his motorbikes!''
