BRITISH SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 28.7.04
28 July 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
GREAT Britain boss Neil Middleditch is urging fans to turn out in force to back his side in the World Cup opener at Eastbourne on Monday.
He said: “All my riders are up for this. Everyone knows the bad luck we’ve suffered through injuries in previous tournaments but it’s looking better this time. “I’ve picked the team I feel is best suited to the task and I hope our fans respond.” WORKINGTON boss Ian Thomas believes his team are facing up to make-or-break time in their bid for the championship. The Comets are keeping up the pressure on league leaders Hull and they have eight meetings in August. Thomas said: “It’s an important time and we have to keep picking up points, it’s all we can do. We’re all in a confident mood which is a positive for us.” FIXTURES) WEDNESDAY JULY 28: SKYBET ELITE LEAGUE: Poole v Coventry 7.30, Arena Essex v Swindon 7.45 TENG TOOLS CHAMPIONS CHASE: King’s Lynn 7.30 CONFERENCE LEAGUE: Stoke v Buxton 7.30 CONFERENCE TROPHY: Wimbledon v King’s Lynn 7.30 SIDECAR SUPERCUP: Oxford 7.30 THURSDAY JULY 29: SKYBET ELITE LEAGUE: Coventry v Belle Vue 7.45, Ipswich v Wolverhampton 7.30, Swindon v Peterborough 7.30 PREMIER LEAGUE: Sheffield v Reading 7.45 SMALLBROOK SPECTACULAR: Isle of Wight 7.30 FRIDAY JULY 30: SKYBET ELITE LEAGUE: Oxford v Peterborough 7.30 PREMIER LEAGUE: Somerset v Exeter 7.30 SCOTTISH OPEN: Edinburgh 7.30 CONFERENCE TROPHY: Weymouth v Coventry 7.30 SATURDAY JULY 31: PREMIER LEAGUE: Berwick v Glasgow 7pm, Stoke v Somerset 7.30, Workington v Newcastle 7pm, Hull v King’s Lynn 7.30 PREMIER LEAGUE KNOCKOUT CUP: Rye House v Isle of Wight 7pm SCOTTISH JUNIOR CUP: Armadale v Ashfield 2pm --- *BREAKING NEWS THROUGHOUT THE DAY AVAILABLE FROM: OFFICIAL BRITISH SPEEDWAY CLUBCALL NEWSLINE 09066 555 909 (calls cost 60p/min)
