BURNS UNFIT FOR OULTON PARK ROUND
06 September 2005 - Aim Racing

Chris Burns has been ruled out of round eleven of the Bennetts Superbike Championship through the injury obtained at Cadwell Park.

This has given AIM Yamaha Superstock rider Les Shand the opportunity to compete against some of the best riders in the world

Burns commented “I have been to several doctors over the last few days and they have all confirmed the same thing. The thumb on my right hand has been broken in several places and will require an operation to fix. I will not be able to ride this weekend and it has been a hard decision to make. I have spoken to Alistair and we have agreed for me to sit out this round. I am hoping to be back at Donington but only time will tell.”

Shand added “I have always been the number 2 Superbike rider for AIM Racing but it’s a shame to have to ride the bike under these conditions. I hope Chris will be better soon and able to finish the season off in style.

I am looking forward to competing on the BSB bike. It will be a new experience for me to compete on slicks and getting use to the power delivery of the Superbike compared to that of the Superstock. I have raced against some of the BSB riders earlier this year at Castle Combe so that does not concern me. I am just pleased that Alistair has given me the opportunity to ride the AIM Yamaha Superbike at a circuit I enjoy competing at.”

Be sure to come to the Cheshire circuit and support the likeable Scottish rider in his first full Superbike race in the UK.

The next round of the Bennetts Superbike Championship will take place at Oulton Park on the 11th September.
