BEYONCÉ MEETS HER HARLEY-DAVIDSON
28 July 2004 - Harley-Davidson UK
The “Magic Group of Companies”, owners of four Harley-Davidson dealerships, took the motorcycle with the ultimate styling to a new heady height at the “La Dolce Vita” ball last weekend.
The multiple award-winning Harley-Davidson V-Rod was given the superstar treatment with a fantastic painting of headline singer Beyoncé Knowles – selling for £65,000 in the charity auction. The chart-topping diva was more than happy to sign the unique motorcycle, not once but twice, attracting huge crowds and numerous bidders for the charity auction; raising money for the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund. Painted by Essex-based artist Paul Karslake, the “Beyoncé V-Rod” – featuring a stunning picture of the star in a striking white dress – was completed in just 48-hours; ready to be ridden on stage by ex-GP champion and Magic Group director Paul Lewis at La Dolce Vita. Paul Lewis said: “It was like a match made in heaven, the spectacular looks and performance of the V-Rod together with the sexiest performer around, and all done in just 48 hours! The reaction to the bike was phenomenal and there was some heated bidding going on before the hammer fell for a staggering £65,000. This is certainly a motorcycle like no other.” Designed by Willie G Davidson (grandson of Motor Company co-founder William A Davidson), the V-Rod has won over 30 major awards world-wide for its design and performance. A favourite amongst the stars, current V-Rod owners include Justin Timberlake, Michael Schumacher and David Beckham. Also put up for auction by the “Magic Group” was a Ford F-250 truck, which sold for £65,000, and a rare sports car – a Ford GT40 – which sold for £300,000. Over the past year Paul and the Magic Group have raised over £1 million for charity. The Magic Group of Companies includes Silverstone, Oxford, Thames Valley and the award-winning Dockgate 20 Harley-Davidson.
