SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
06 September 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
EDINBURGH youngster William Lawson won the British Under-18 Championship with a faultless maximum at Monmore Green.
Lawson reeled off five straight wins to finish one point ahead of Weymouth''s 15-year old sensation Lewis Bridger. Locally based Jack Hargreaves gave the Wolverhampton fans something to cheer by finishing third on 12 points, two clear of Adam Roynon in an entertaining meeting. COVENTRY and Peterborough will meet in the Elite League play-off semi-finals - but who will stage the meeting has yet to be decided. The Panthers'' win over Swindon on Monday has moved them level on points with the Bees, and behind the Brandon men by just two race points. Coventry will therefore guarantee the home tie if they can avoid defeat by more than two points against Eastbourne on Thursday. POOLE have announced the signing of Pole Robert Kosciecha as they make a late bid to retain their Elite League title. The Pirates have also recalled club asset Greg Walasek, who comes back in for Ryan Sullivan as the Australian is still unwell. Promoter Matt Ford said: ''Some people might see this move as coming too late, but I think that it could be wrong to write us off just yet.'' WORKINGTON have been rocked by the departure of Scott Robson, who has suffered a serious loss of confidence in recent weeks. Robson handed in his racejacket after Saturday''s win over Rye House, although boss Graham Drury is struggling to find a replacement. Drury said: ''There are certainly no hard feelings and I would like to wish the lad well for whatever he decides to do in the future.''
