DEMARIA TOASTS AUSTRIAN SUCCESS TO SET-UP TITLE FINALE
04 September 2005 - KTM-Sportmotorcycles AG
Red Bull KTM rider and defending World Champion Yves Demaria rode to a perfect clean moto sweep this afternoon at Schwanenstadt for the KTM-backed MX3 Grand Prix of Austria for the tenth round of twelve in the 2005 FIM series.
The Frenchman set pole position yesterday and in front of a decent crowd involving many KTM supporters blasted away from the rest of the field during the formative stages of both motos to control the event. Team-mate Julien Bill followed the veteran in the two motos while the third member of the team and Championship leader Sven Breugelmans could only make his way to fifth during the opening sprint. The Belgian suffered some problems with his exhaust in the second moto and could not finish. Demaria has now closed the gap to Sven Breugelmans in the series points table and stands a chance of retaining his title with trips to Italy and Bulgaria remaining in the next two weeks. Yves Demaria “I won both heats after some great starts and was able to pull away from the others at two seconds a lap. I was really happy with my speed and the fact that I could out a gaps like those. Overall it has been two great days after taking pole yesterday. The track was a bit slippery because of the rain in the morning but it worked out OK and was even getting dusty towards the end. The KTM worked well and the engines were very strong. Of course it was very good for me to win here in front of all the KTM fans. The fans were very loud and it helped me out there.” MX3 Race 1 1. Demaria 2. Bill 3. Staufer 4. Ristori 5. Breugelmans 6.
