SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
04 September 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

COVENTRY appear to have control over second place in the Elite League after a third away win in four days on Saturday.

A last-heat 5-1 from Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris gave the Bees a 46-43 win at Eastbourne to leave them two points clear of Peterborough. If they avoid defeat in either of their two remaining matches, they will guarantee a home draw in the play-off semi-finals.

BERWICK promoter Peter Waite insists that the Bandits can still reach the Knockout Cup Final despite Saturday''s close first leg against King''s Lynn. The Stars held Waite''s men to just a one-point victory and will be confident of finishing the job at the Norfolk Arena on Wednesday. But Waite said: ''It is the score they beat us by down there in the League, so the tie is far from over.''
