WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
03 September 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

Elite League: Coventry 48 Wolves 41

FAST Freddie Lindgren stole the show at Brandon on Friday night with a superb 15-point maximum - but could not save his team from a seven point defeat against title-chasing Coventry. Lindgren''s first-ever full maximum in UK speedway saw the young Swede make five flying starts and race away from the home riders, and in fact it was his first race which saw him pushed the hardest as he slipped between Billy Janniro and Joonas Kylmakorpi coming off turn two. In Heat 7, Lindgren fended off Scott Nicholls for a couple of laps before the Bees skipper clipped the fence in his attempts to pass - and his other three wins were essentially untroubled. With guest Jason Crump also in terrific form - a blown engine at the start of Heat 15 denying him a possible full score - Wolves kept the scoreline close but were always just behind the solid home side who overcame below-par nights from top two Nicholls and Seb Ulamek mainly due to the form of reserve Martin Smolinski.

COVENTRY: Martin Smolinski 12+2, Joonas Kylmakorpi 10+1, Chris Harris 10, Scott Nicholls 7, Billy Jannirio 4+2, Morten Risager 4+1, Seb Ulamek 1.

WOLVES: Freddie Lindgren 15, Jason Crump 12, David Howe 6, Krzysztof Pecyna 4, Steve Johnston 3, Magnus Karlsson 1, Ronnie Correy 0.

*WOLVES travel to Ipswich on Saturday night for their penultimate Elite League fixture, with Swindon star Lee Richardson guesting for Mikael Max.
