FOUNDERS OF INFINITY MOTORCYCLES TO CLIMB AFRICA’S HIGHEST MOUNTAIN

Rob Puttick and Dave Holloway, who founded Infinity Motorcycles, will climb Kilimanjaro in September 2006 to achieve a lifetime challenge and to raise money for two charities (Marie Curie and the Genesis Appeal).

The pair opened their first shop in London in 1999 and over the following five years grew the business into the UK’s biggest retailer of motorcycles and accessories, with 11 branches across the country, from Southampton to York.

“We chose these charities as I sadly lost my sister (Stella) to breast cancer last year,” explains Rob. “Marie Curie were fantastic in their support to Stella’s immediate family and the Genesis Appeal is dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer.”

Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa and the highest freestanding peak in the world (i.e. not part of a range). It rises to 5,895 metres above sea level – that’s over 3 ½ miles! The temperature drops by 1 degree centigrade for every 200 metres climbed, reaching –20° centigrade at the summit and most people succumb to altitude sickness at some point.

“I get blisters after walking my dog,” comments Dave. “This is a big challenge and we have loads of training and effort to put in to be successful.”

Dave and Rob are hoping to raise £10,000 between them.
