BURNS SUSPECTED BROKEN RIGHT HAND AFTER FIRST CORNER CRASH
30 August 2005 - Aim Racing

Chris Burns has a suspected broken right hand after a first corner accident at Cadwell Park in the first Superbike race of the day. The AIM rider got a clean start and was in the first corner when he was hit from the rear.

Burns Commented “I was half way through turn one when all of a sudden I felt a huge jolt from the rear. This lifted the rear end of the bike off the ground and pushed me into another rider. The next thing I knew I was flat on my back sliding along the grass.

I think Steve Brogan was taken out by my bike as he tried to avoid me; but as a result he ran over my right hand. The medical staff at the circuit think it may be broken; I need to head off to hospital back home for an x-ray to see what damage I have done to it.

We have made a number of adjustments to the bike from Silverstone and I was happy with them, it’s just a pity we could not have used them more. We started 18th on the grid and all wanted to do was finish both races with some badly needed points.

I don’t know if my hand will be okay for Oulton Park in 2 weeks. I will need the all clear from the doctors and I will have to rest it for a week. I feel sorry the team as we have had a string of bad luck and we thought it was behind us.”
