SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
30 August 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

COVENTRY saw their hopes of a top two place and a home semi-final in the play-offs take a dent with a shock 46-44 home defeat by Ipswich.

Former Bees favourite Billy Hamill scored a staggering 16-points as a guest rider for the Witches. Peterborough claimed maximum points from their Bank Holiday meetings, Poole lost at Wolverhampton, which means four clubs are now chasing three play-off places.

RYE House have emerged as clear favourites to win the Premier League title race after a productive Bank Holiday. They hammered Stoke 63-27 at Hoddesdon as rivals Berwick slumped to a 59-33 defeat at Workington. But Rockets boss John Sampford said: ''There is still a long way to go, both Berwick and ourselves still have plenty of racing ahead of us and you never know what''s around the corner.''
