27 July 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
LEE Richardson has handed Great Britain a massive boost - just days before their opening World Cup meeting.
The Peterborough man returned from a groin injury in their 47-43 win over Coventry and scored 11-points. He said: ''I saw a soft tissue specialist and had an injection last week and it seems much better. I''m looking forward to the World Cup and we''re going to try and win it.'' JOE Screen has responded to some strong words from British boss Neil Middleditch after getting a call-up to the World Cup squad. The British champion said: ''Middlo told me to lay off the beer and focus on doing the World Cup and I''m really up for it now. ''I never said I didn''t want to ride, the press blew it up, I just told Middlo I wasn''t feeling too good about my racing.'' MARK Lemon returned to Exeter''s side for their Knockout Cup quarter-final with Sheffield - and promptly helped them to a semi-final spot. Lemon scored 11-points as the Falcons won 62-29 to go through 99-86 on aggregate. Falcons team manager Tony Lethbridge said: ''It''s a huge boost for everyone at the club to have a rider of Mark''s quality back in the team and we''re naturally delighted to go through.''
