HONDA’S INCREDIBLE ROBOT TO STAR AT THE 2005 INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE AND SCOOTER SHOW
31 August 2005 - MCI Exhibitions Ltd

Leading motorcycle manufacturer Honda is to bring an exciting new addition to the 2005 International Motorcycle and Scooter Show in association with The Sun.

ASIMO, one of the most technologically advanced robots ever created will be making a star appearance at the Honda stand during the first four days of the show, which runs from 28th October to 6th November.

ASIMO is the culmination of nearly two decades of humanoid robotics research by Honda scientists and engineers. ASIMO can walk on uneven slopes and surfaces, turn smoothly, climb stairs, reach for and grasp objects, switch lights on and off, and open and close doors. He can also comprehend and respond to simple voice commands and has the ability to recognize the face of a select group of individuals. Using its camera eyes, ASIMO can map its environment and register stationary objects, allowing him to yield to pedestrians in its path until they have cleared its path.

Managing Director of MCI Exhibitions, Finlay McAllan, said:
“The news that ASIMO will be at the Show is really exciting and will provide visitors with yet another incredible feature to see this year. ASIMO has proved to be extremely popular with people of all ages and I can’t wait to see him walking around the NEC with the thousands of other visitors”

ASIMO joins a long list of incredible things to see at this year’s show. With a fantastic line-up of features for visitors of all ages to try, the 2005 Show is set to be the most interactive ever. Visitors will be able to try out many brand new features including the ‘Off Road Experience’ and the ‘Bike Ride Out’, whilst taking in the biggest launch of new bikes to a UK audience ever!
