WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
26 August 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
Brilliant British youngster Lewis Bridger is so determined to ride in Wolverhampton''s Bank Holiday bonanza of speedway - by using his Uncle''s helicopter!
Bridger, 15, faced a potentially difficult clash of fixtures when his Conference League club Weymouth re-arranged a meeting for Monday afternoon at 4pm. He had already accepted a booking to ride in Wolverhampton''s Academy League fixture which follows their mouth-watering Elite League clash with Poole the same night. But thanks to the help of his Uncle, Bridger will fly from Dorset to the Black Country in time to take his place in front of two of the leading clubs in British speedway. Wolves promoter Chris Van Straaten said ''It''s an amazing story when you consider what Lewis is prepared to do to get to us on Monday. He is determined to carve out a great future in our sport and at no time did he consider pulling out of our Academy League match. He knows he will be riding on the big stage, there will be alot of people showing alot of interest in the youngsters and I''m sure most of the fans watching our meeting with Poole will stay behind to see it. It''s a busy programme, but it''s also a treat for our fans to see a massive Elite League meeting followed by the stars of tomorrow looking to make an impression on our track.''
