SHEFFIELD SPEEDWAY
23 July 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SHEFFIELD Pirtek Tigers enjoyed a stroke of luck in the aggregate bonus point run-off at the Oak Tree Arena to take a point back to Owlerton on Friday night.
Home No.1 John Jorgensen looked set to crown a night which had seen him score 17 from six rides by beating Tigers guest Craig Watson after the aggregate scores had finished level - but with the Dane holding a clear lead, his machine expired allowing Watson through. Somerset won the match 51-39, although there had been just two points between the sides after ten heats, and the Tigers'' preparations for the meeting were not helped either by several members of the team being held up in traffic en route, with the start time delayed by half an hour as a result. SOMERSET: John Jorgensen 17, Jamie Smith 10+1, Glenn Cunningham 10, Carl Wilkinson 7+1, Neil Collins 6+2, Simon Walker 1+1, rider replacement for Paul Fry. SHEFFIELD: Craig Watson 13, Ben Wilson 8+1, Ricky Ashworth 7+1, Andrew Moore 5+2, Andre Compton 5, James Birkinshaw 1+1, Richard Hall 0.
