25 August 2005 - Clear Channel Entertainment

Clear Channel Entertainment’s Motor Sports division announced today that Honda’s Kevin Windham, of Centreville, Miss., has confirmed his participation at the 2005 U.S. Open at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas October 7-9.

This is Windham’s first U.S. Open appearance since 2001 where he finished third. He is currently second place in the overall points standings for the 2005 AMA Motocross Championships. Windham was recently chosen to ride for Team USA in the 2005 Motocross Des Nations with Ricky Carmichael and Ivan Tedesco. Fans can get up to speed on all of the latest U.S. Open news on the re-vamped www.ussx.com.

“I’m looking forward to racing this year’s U.S. Open after missing the last three years,” said Windham. “The racing is always competitive and the fans are great, making for a fun weekend. It’s also a great opportunity to see where I’m at for the up-coming supercross season.”

The eighth-annual U.S. Open, which will broadcast nationally on NBC October 23 at 3:30 EST for the second consecutive season, features the world’s top motocross racers competing for the world’s largest single race purse. Four-time supercross champion and two-time U.S. Open champion Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) is confirmed to race as well as two-time defending U.S. Open champion Chad Reed (Yamaha).

Tickets for the 2005 U.S. Open are on-sale now and available through www.ticketmaster.com, by calling 702-474-4000, or at the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office.
