REYNOLDS RECEIVES AWARD FROM FORMER CHAMP HODGSON
24 August 2005 - Bennetts British Superbike

Bennetts, the title sponsor of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, fixed it for reigning champion John Reynolds to be presented with his Snetterton ‘Rider of the Day’ trophy by the former British and World Superbike Champion Neil Hodgson, during last weekends racing at Silverstone.

The Nottingham-based rider won the award for his battling third and fourth place finishes in the two races at the Norfolk circuit having returned to form after an early season dogged by injury.

“It was quite a surprise to see Neil walking up to the garage to make the presentation as, for a minute, I thought I’d slipped back a couple of years,” said Reynolds, “but it was great to see him and I was delighted to pick up the Bennetts Rider of the Day award for Snetterton.”

Hodgson was flown in to Silverstone to present the award as a special guest of his personal sponsors Bennetts, the UK’s Number one for motorcycle insurance. The current AMA Superbike star was delighted to meet up with his friend and former rival for the Bennetts British Superbike title for the presentation.

Neil Hodgson, said: “John deserves all the credit this season having fought his way back from injury and I’m sure they’ll be a couple more awards heading his way before the season is out.”

Kal Samra, Director of Bennetts, said: “It is great that we were able to bring Neil to Silverstone to make this presentation to John. It’s a long time since they have raced together but it was great to have one former champion presenting an award to the current champion.”
