PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
24 August 2005 - Honda Racing
With Eugene Laverty topping the time sheets in all British Supersport Championship practice sessions at the recent test at Cadwell Park, the Toomebridge teenager is hoping to prove the saying that “practice makes perfect” on Bank Holiday Monday.
The 19-year-old has increased in confidence throughout the 2005 season as he has continued to gather experience in the ultra-competitive Supersport class. Recent testing with Dunlop tyres has also helped Laverty make further progress with the Red Bull Honda CBR600RR. Using a new profile front tyre at the last round of the series at Silverstone, the Ulster rider secured his first pole position since making the step up to Supersport. However, this unfortunately did not help him achieve his first podium position finish as he had hoped. Laverty was unable to complete race distance after crashing out of the opening lap of the shortened 12-lap race. Laverty has spent this week recuperating at home and is positive that he will return to form for Cadwell Park on Bank Holiday Monday. Eugene Laverty: “I was a bit beaten up from the crash at Silverstone but I’m confident that I’ll come back from it as strong as ever. I had a good test at Cadwell Park recently and I’m hoping that I can make the same kind of progress over this weekend – most importantly on race day.”
