REA’S PROGRESS CONTINUES
24 August 2005 - Honda Racing
Red Bull Honda’s Jonathan Rea is upbeat ahead of round ten of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park this Bank Holiday Monday.
The 18-year-old proved that he has put recent injuries behind him by scoring his third double points-scoring finish of the season at the last round of the series at Silverstone. Ulsterman Rea is now confident that he can finish every remaining race within the top 15 to improve his consistency and position within the series overall. He is therefore remaining focussed on reaching the chequered flag aboard the Red Bull Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. The talented teenager completed a recent test at the Lincolnshire circuit to re-familiarise himself with Red Bull Honda’s home track. Rea’s targets were to work out the best lines and optimise set-up, rather than achieve the fastest lap time. The Ballyclare rider achieved his objectives and now aims to use this experience to his advantage in Bank Holiday Monday’s two 18-lap races, which is certain to be appreciated by local fans of the Louth-based team. Jonathan Rea: “I’m glad to be back on track after crashes earlier in the season and I’m feeling good ahead of Cadwell Park. I like the circuit – especially the Mountain – and this event has more significance because it’s Red Bull Honda’s home track. There’s always a good atmosphere in front of the local fans.”
